Some shoes are so unique that the opportunity to acquire them comes only once in a lifetime...

Master craftsmen at Ferragamo and Swarovski have partnered on a trio of spectacular men’s evening shoes, each one set with thousands of tiny Swarovski crystals expertly applied by hand. Perfect for men who don’t mind attracting attention, the shoes come in three elegant styles with satin uppers and leather linings. A cushioned heel and EE width makes them as comfortable as they are dramatic.
This slip-on tuxedo slipper is set with merlot-coloured crystals. This wingtip lace-up tuxedo shoe has two-tone crystals – bronze-coloured on the actual wingtip, black crystals on the rest of the upper. (available only at our Bloor Street West store) This black balmoral-laced tuxedo shoe with piping on the seams is set with black crystals.
Available, while stocks last, at our Bloor Street West store and Yorkdale store in Toronto, our Pacific Centre store in Vancouver and our Les Cours Mont-Royal store in Montreal – exclusively at Harry Rosen. $3,250.

Samuelsohn Reborn
What’s happening at Samuelsohn? Since 1923, the Montreal tailoring house has set the Canadian standard for high-quality, hand-sewn suits and jackets. Now this local gem has been recut and repolished to compete with the world for quality and value.

With newly appointed president and creative director Arnold Silverstone at the helm, this fall’s collection maintains Samuelsohn’s classic tailoring standards but brings in an elegantly modern fashion sensibility. In terms of superlative fabrics, hand-finished details and contemporary design, these clothes compare with the most sophisticated Italian labels but at a decidedly advantageous price.
Wearing is believing. Try on that impossibly supple, cream-coloured jacket made from yangir, a wool harvested from Mongolian mountain goats that’s softer than cashmere. Check out the pick-stitch detailing across a suit jacket’s inside lining, waistband and under the collar – work that fine can only be done by hand.
In short, Samuelsohn’s new fall collection is simply dazzling. As Larry Rosen says, “They give more bang for the buck than anyone else.”
Harry’s Spring Run Off Fundraising Right on Target

New developments in the fight against prostate cancer have revolutionized treatments in the last five years. It was only four years ago that scientists discovered cancer cells could produce their own hormones, sometimes overriding medication. A drug called abiraterone has now been developed to remedy the situation. Meanwhile, equally new immunotherapy is also proving effective against metastatic prostate cancer, increasing life expectancy by months; hopefully even years.
“It’s a very different world than it was in 2005,” says Dr. Rob Bristow from Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, “and it’s going to be even more different five years from now.” Bristow is the principal lead of the International Cancer Genome Consortium, a study led by Canada but also involving German, French and British scientists. Their goal is to sequence the prostate’s genetic code and determine which prostate cancers are aggressive and which are not, and which will respond best to surgery or to radiotherapy or are best left alone. “Using genetics to come up with personalized treatments for individual patients – that’s the holy grail,”says Bristow. “We believe we can do it the next five years and then develop a simple test that can be readily utilized by any hospital in the world. The money raised by Harry Rosen’s Spring Run Off is a direct help in this. It’s driving our research forward in literally half the time.”
Good to know that the thousands who take part in our runs are makling a worldwide difference! Find out more about the latest developments in prostate cancer research at www.prostatecancer.com.
Until September 17, 2011, "LIKE" Harry Rosen's Facebook page and we'll donate $1 to help fund prostate cancer research. Please spread the word and help us raise some money for this important cause. www.facebook.com/harryrosencanada

Three more famous brands come to Harry Rosen
Ralph Lauren
Black Label Suit, $1,675
Shirt, $345
Tie, $100
Pocket Square, $90
Three new cutting-edge tailored clothing collections are about to debut at certain Harry Rosen stores. The first new arrival is Isaia, a renowned family firm dedicated to expressing the finest Neapolitan sartorial traditions. “I’ve been an admirer of Gianluca Isaia for years,” says Larry Rosen, “and when you check out his suits I think you’ll see why. They’re made mostly by hand and Isaia fans say you can feel the love.” Fabrics are exclusive to Isaia while the cut – especially in the ratio between the chest and the strong shoulder – fits everybody beautifully.
What can you say about Lanvin, our second new arrival? This is now the most avant-garde collection of tailored clothing Harry Rosen carries – just what you need to achieve the contemporary Parisien look in the most sophisticated way.
Harry Rosen and Ralph Lauren have a relationship that goes back to the early 1970s when Harry first introduced the brand to Canada. R. L.’s Black Label collection offers classically tailored clothing with a European fit and sensibility. Manufactured in Italy, these suits are upscale and urban with a trim, contemporary silhouette.
Isaia and Lanvin are our Bloor Street West store in Toronto; Ralph Lauren Black Label is at Bloor Street West and at our Les Cours Mont Royal store in Montreal.

Summer shorts

Now that the weather has finally shown signs of summer, we appreciate that men are thinking about time out – perhaps at the cottage. They are rummaging through closets and chests of drawers, looking for their summer shorts. They are finding them, inspecting them – and realizing within seconds that it’s time to buy a new pair or two.
We have anticipated this need. If we do say so ourselves… We offer the most extraordinary array of summer shorts you are likely to find anywhere. Whatever style you favour – classic Bermuda, cargo shorts, drawstring linen shorts, golf shorts – and whatever colour in stripes, solids, checks, plaids and prints – we can meet your requirements. Our labels include Hugo Boss, Brax, Gant, Alberto, Napapijri, Jet Lag and many more.
Summer’s here: don’t be caught short.

Behind The Scenes With Carey Price
Montreal Canadiens’ goaltender Carey Price will be showcasing his take on confidence in the upcoming ad campaign for Harry Rosen. The 23-year-old B.C. native and NHL superstar knows that while hockey is all about performance, winning takes more than skill. “Success is based upon confidence, especially in sports. Confidence is a sign of strength”, says Price. “I am looking forward to next year.”
Here is a behind-the-scenes look at the recent photo shoot featuring Carey Price, where he ‘sports’ a Canali New City Suit – which is exclusive to Harry Rosen.
