Levi Strauss & Co, - a Company with it's Roots firmly planted in History
Earlier this week at Pitti Uomo we took a look at Made in the USA by Levi's Vintage Clothing.

This Fall 2010 we are launching two collections from Levis' Premium division: Levis Made & Crafted, and LVC (Levis Vintage Clothing). Both of these collections have exclusive distribution in high-end boutiques and department stores throughout the world. Both collections take inspiration from authentic Levi's jeans. Levi's is widely known as the first makers of jeans in North America. There is no other denim brand in the world more iconic or more authentic than Levi's and the rich history of the brand is woven into both these new labels.
For next Spring, Levis has further developed the Levi's Vintage division and has produced a capsule collection of reproductions of iconic American workwear. Some of the same machines that were used to produce the denim fabric over 100 years ago are still being used today. In fact, some of the irregularities in the denim fabric were due to the uneven floorboards in the factory producing the fabric (the machines would shake as they were running). Levi's has gone to the extent of reproducing those irregularities in some of the denim they are producing today, in order to create an authentic and very special product.

The jean above is a replica of the original Levi's 501 style. It's called "Barnyard" as the inspiration for the jean was an original pair of jeans from 1890 that was recently found in an abandoned barn in California!

This jean is called "Spurbites". It was inspired by a jean originally made in the late 1890s. It was worn by a cowboy whose spurs damaged the leg opening. As well, the original pair had been patched by hand with cloth from a second pair of jeans of the same fabric.

Some of the other items featured within the capsule collection, including denim jackets and classic white tees.
